Wasting time

Modern humans are hour glasses,
Life drips away with each grain,
The echo of minutes lost,
Are a terrible refrain.
Sitting in the office chair,
Wondering when life starts,
Sipping coffee and typing data,
On seemingly endless charts.
Look at the clock it's nearly five,
Just a little more time to wait,
When suddenly the clock comes alive,
Pushing the hour hand late.
Do not let me hold you back it shouts,
Above the din of quiet
This is your life so go and live,
Be free my friend, and riot!
