Feed them

Large in his throne sat the king of the land, munching on berries and watching the band. In came a servant who was out of breath, who cried, 'Sire! Your people are starving to death!' The king stared blankly at this sudden news, as he raised a glass of wine looking amused. 'Let them eat cake and be diabetic,' said he in a tone quite apathetic. The court fell silent to this horrid decree, until the next day when the sun shown free. For out in the land the people rejoiced, the king had gifted them pastries of choice. So hear not apathy in the royal decree, of cake for all, with frosting and brie.
