Fruit gathered together outside the door
Ready to show their stuff
Each thought they’d definitely win for sure
That their lines would flow off the cuff.
But only one would emerge from that room
Triumphant in these tryouts
To earn a place that they’d assume
Above and beyond all doubts.
When time came it was Apple’s success
And congratulations were in order
But soon he learned what would coalesce
In this job as deadpan warder.
For the judge arose and approached the apple
Saying, “just one more thing”
And that’s how Apple lights the chapel
And computers to consumers he’d bring.
