The snail is slow as he crosses the path, and people slow down and see him and gasp. They take pity on the crawling shell, and help him across and wish him well. The snail attempts to cross again, but samaritans will contend. So back at home the snail self-sizes, to create the ultimate of disguises. The next day arrives all full of cheer, when a couple walking at the snail sneer. The lady says aghast to her man; kill that creature, it's lesser than. So snail dies without reproach, happy thanks to appearing cockroach.
