Empty nesters

Away went our son, In his life to invest, And now we're alone, In our empty nest. But six months go by, And low and behold, Our son has returned, With an idea so bold. I gotta crash here, He said without a care, And made himself at home, As if we weren't there. Do we share meals, He asked with his arrogant tone, I looked at my wife, I wanted to moan. Alas here we are, Our retirement thwarted, So I'll freely admit, I'd have rather aborted.
