Popcorn

The meal was over so he set down his fork Stuffed to the brim of his belly He stretched back in his seat and closed his eyes It was a damn fine meal of pork and jelly. No more food ever again he said With ringing in his ear like a buzz But then he heard his wife crunching something warm and nice So he struggled to see what it was. He asked of his wife from where he sat Is that popcorn you munch over there Are you not full she responded but he lashed out in kind I SAID IS THAT POPCORN YOU BEAR!? It was over before it began He was sprawled on the floor forlorn His body had taken the rumpled shape Of one thousand kernel popcorn. The evening was ending but then suddenly he heard The crisp breach of a seal broke So from his bloated body immobile on the floor He asked his wife is that coke?
