Pet

When Agnes was young her father collected rocks, from all round the world, he brought home geology’s clocks. Agnes did not know a rock from a shell, and thought they were eggs waiting to gel. She imagined a great life when one of them hatched, it’d be her pet and she’d name it Rex, to her he’d be latched. And they’d go on adventures out into the wild, scaring the neighbors and eating their child. What a lovely thing, a dinosaur pet, T-Rex Rex, and with Agnes, the blood they would let.
